Pilates for Golfers

Would you like to improve your golf, play longer and reduce your risk of injury? Whether you’re a social golfer or performance golfer, Pilates will help develop your stability, strength and mobility so you can play better and safer.

Pilates for injury-free golf

Playing golf can put pressure on your body. You do lots of twisting and turning. There’s stress impact when your club strikes the ground or you’re taking a shot out of deep rough. You’re constantly bending or stretching to pick up the ball. And even lining up putts means you have to squat and balance.  Pilates helps give you good postural alignment and balance to minimise strain on your body and reduce the chance of aches, pains and injury.

Pilates for golf performance

Whatever level of golf you play at, Pilates can give you the edge over your golf buddies. It strengthens your core muscles, which improves stamina and overall performance. By toning your body, Pilates gives you more power behind your swing. And Pilates improves flexibility, giving you greater rotation to hit the ball more effectively and over a greater distance.

Pilates for Golfers classes

I run Pilates for Golfers classes that are tailored specifically to golfers. During a session, you’ll use a golf club to assist with balance as you work through movements aimed at improving your stability, strength and mobility. Classes are kept to a maximum of 10 people so everyone will benefit from one-to-one supervision and support.

Testimonials

‘My physio said if I didn’t want to keep returning to her with back pain I should take up Pilates and that it would also help my golf. I was sceptical but signed up for Laura’s Pilates for Golfers classes. The key improvements from Pilates have been much greater stability over the ball through my golf swing. This means that I hit the ball with the sweet spot of the club far more frequently. This, and improved overall fitness, has increased both the distance I’m hitting each of my clubs and my levels of concentration through the round.’ Bill, golfer

‘I attend weekly Pilates for Golfers classes and also follow Laura’s routines daily. The results have been all I hoped for. I have fewer lower back pain problems (from a slipped disc) as well as greater flexibility and balance, which are helping me with my golf.’ Michael Newstead
